Shedding light on charge interactions
Welcome to optocoulombics lab at the University of Nottingham, UK
Charge is a fundamental property of matter. It plays a pivotal role in various natural systems, from the microscopic scale of subatomic particles to the macroscopic scale of celestial bodies.
Optocoulombics research is focussed at creating new methods, with the aid of advanced optics, to explore charge dynamics in microscopic environments within physical, chemical, and biological systems. Charge dynamics plays a vital role in electrochemical reactions, catalysis, and various semiconductor devices.
In living systems, charge dynamics govern processes such as neural information processing, muscle contraction, hormonal dynamics, and biochemical reactions. Our lab is exploring charge dynamics through ambitious research aimed at advancing the diagnosis and treatment of challenging health conditions such as diabetes, neurological disorders, and bacterial infections.
